Newcastle United’s new manager Alan Pardew is said to be deep in discussions for a surprise January loan deal to bring flying winger Shaun Wright-Phillips to St James’ Park. The England international has seen his first team opportunities dwindle under current boss Roberto Mancini, to the extent that he has only started 2 Premiership games this season.
Wright-Phillips, 29, who rejoined the Citizens in 2008 to gain more first team football after a 3 year stint in the Capital with Chelsea, where he also found opportunities limited under Jose Mourinho.
The 36 cap international has allegedly been told he can leave Eastland’s in January and if a suitable offer comes in for his services then City wont stand in his way. He has been attracting massive interest from West Ham and Everton.
City though would prefer a permanent deal in an attempt to recoup some of the £8.5 million paid to Chelsea.
