Pat Nevin: This is why Chelsea won’t slip up in the Premier League title race

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern think that their side finally has one hand on the Premier League trophy…

The Blues have been in fine form all season long, and barring a collapse, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will miss out on securing the trophy at the end of the season.

Indeed, there are a plethora of reasons for the Blues’ success – their fine form going forward and their stellar midfield to name just two examples – but Chelsea legend Pat Nevin thinks that it is down to another factor.

Speaking via Chelsea’s official website, after discussing Chelsea’s form this year, Nevin said: “Which brings us back to why everyone thinks Chelsea are unlikely to fold – the defence is infuriatingly solid if you are trying to break them down”.

Nevin has seemingly put Chelsea’s form down to their stellar defence, with nobody able to break through the Chelsea¬†back line.

Indeed, the quintet of Victor Moses, Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Marcos Alonso have done very well this year – with Thibaut Courtois a near unstoppable final line of defence.

A couple of wins against Crystal Palace and Man City over the coming weeks could be enough to seal the title for the Blues, though they might have to do it without Eden Hazard, who is suffering from an injury.
