The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their 16-year-old star Ethan Galbraith as he scored a rocket against Manchester City that has been voted as goal of the month. The midfielder latched onto the end of a poor clearance from the Manchester City box to smash home a first-time effort given the young City ‘keeper no chance.
Congratulations to #MUFC Under-18s midfielder Ethan Galbraith, whose screamer v Man City has been voted as our Goal of the Month for April…

Manchester United have a rich history of promoting academy graduates into the first team. The club have had an academy player feature in every senior matchday squad for over 80 years, stretching way back to the 1930s. This in itself is an unbelievable achievement and the club won’t be keen on letting their streak of having homegrown players in the first team stop, with Ethan Galbraith looking likely to break into the senior squad if he keeps playing the way he is and scoring great goals.
The United fans propping our bar up have likened the midfielder to a young Paul Scholes with the way his goal consisted of making a late run into the box before giving the ‘keeper no chance with a first-time strike. United have had some fantastic academy players go on to achieve great things. Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and Gary Neville are four of the club’s most loved players who all came through the club’s academy. The current senior squad have Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay from the academy and Galbraith will be keen to join them soon in his career.

Cracking player, hope he makes it. Watched him at local level and hoping he plays at the milk cup this year.
