‘Pay the money’, ‘Quality keeps you up’ – Southampton fans demand deadline day acquisition of £19.8m-rated striker on Twitter

The Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see the arrival of another attacking talent before the transfer window slams shut later this evening.

Since his arrival in the summer of 2017, Mauricio Pellegrino has failed to inspire the Southampton players to produce a winning run of form in the Premier League, and they find themsleves deep in the midst of a relegation battle as a result. Pellegrino bolstered his attacking options with the signing of Guido Carrillo from Monaco earlier this week, but the Argentine manager may not be finished with his January negotiations just yet.

According to reports from Sky Sports, Southampton are attempting to sign Dutch striker Quincy Promes from Spartak Moscow, although their latest bid of £25 million has been rejected by the Russian club.

The Southampton fans are naturally concerned by the prospect of relegation, but the signing of Promes could make all the difference in their fight for survival. With that to consider, it is no surprise that The Saints faithful have turned out in their numbers to call for his signature on Twitter.

Plenty of the supporters are calling for the Southampton hierarchy to improve their offer and ensure that Promes is a Southampton player by the end of the window.

Whether they will manage to conclude a deal for his services remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that the vast majority of supporters would be delighted to see the 26-year-old move to their club on deadline day.

Here’s what the Saints faithful have had to say about the potential signing of Quincy Promes…
