Pedro Obiang working hard to be fit for Tottenham clash

West Ham United will be preparing themselves for their League cup match against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night and will feel good about their chances.

Spurs will have just two days to prepare for the game following their Premier League encounter with Manchester City on Monday night.

However, the Hammers have an extensive list of injury concerns ahead of the game, although there are suggestions that one man is working hard to be fit for the clash.

According to a report by Football Insider, Pedro Obiang is working intently behind the scenes to ensure he is ready for the game at the London Stadium.

The Spaniard has missed the last two matches for the Hammers with a calf injury, however, it is claimed he knows he is needed ‘as a matter of urgency’ following Mark Noble’s red card and subsequent suspension.

The Verdict:

Obiang has been a crucial member of Manuel Pellegrini’s side in recent weeks prior to his injury and his return will be a significant boost to the side, should be fit in time for the game.

The 26-year-old has played as part of the three in midfield, with a number of the club’s players having had to spend time on the sidelines with their own injury concerns.

However, it remains to be seen if Pellegrini will rush the Spaniard back from his calf problem, as Noble will now miss the next three games and he will not want to lose Obiang for any longer than is necessary.
