Pellegrini eager to rebuild as West Ham United eye swoop on Premier League giants

West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to seeing who Manuel Pellegrini brings to the London Stadium this summer.

The 64-year-old Chilean is expected to make a number of changes as he looks for the Hammers to play attractive football and achieve a European football spot next season and will have cast his eye over a number of players.

The goalkeeper position will be a huge area for concern for Pellegrini, with Joe Hart returning to Manchester City and Adrian’s future up in the air, meaning they will need to look at new targets. Reports from the Birmingham Mail are suggesting that Sam Johnstone has risen to the top of their list.

The 25-year-old spent 18 months at Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United and continued to impress and it is believed the Villans failure to be promoted will have cost them their chance to turn his stay into a permanent deal, with West Ham ready to pounce.

Landlord’s Verdict

Johnstone’s impressive performances in the Championship have led many to believe he could be prepared to make the jump up to the Premier League and West Ham could be the ideal club for him to try.

The Hammers, who are starting fresh themselves, will want someone to come in and be confident and the 25-year-old has shown that he can handle himself on a big stage already. The locals in the Tavern would be pleased should a move come off for the shot-stopper and will look for the club to get a deal across the line.
