Pep Guardiola reveals talented midfielder won’t be risked as Premier League season edges closer

The Premier League season is edging closer and for the Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern, the pressure is slowly beginning to build.

Managed by Pep Guardiola, the former Barcelona man is under pressure to start delivering good results and silverware down at the Etihad.

Their supporters lining the bar here in the pub know that they need to start putting the pressure on some of their Premier League rivals if they’re to be taken seriously as true title rivals.

But it seems they’ll still be without one man in particular as the season rolls back around and that’s former Borussia Dortmund man Ikay Gundogan.

According to The Mirror, the Citizens will still be without their German midfielder when the season does start, much to the disappointment of the City fans here in the pub.

At times last season, it was clear they lacked that little bit of metal in the middle-of-the-park but it’s understood that Pep Guardiola is not interested in risking one of his biggest players ahead of a huge campaign ahead.

Landlord’s Verdict

It’s clear that Pep Guardiola knows how important Gundogan will be in his squad this season, especially considering he didn’t play a starring role last time out either.

He’s a creative, quick and different option to what City already have on their books and keeping him fit is more important than risking him early doors.
