Manchester City will be desperate to secure the Premier League title once again this season after dominating proceedings in the last campaign.
The Citizens have already splashed the cash this summer in an attempt to enjoy even more success in the next campaign. However, they did miss out on a transfer target in the form of Jorginho, but Pep Guardiola appears to have found an alternative, as according to the Daily Star, Guardiola is ready to put his faith in Douglas Luiz.
Chelsea missed out on securing the services of Jorginho this summer as he ended up moving to Stamford Bridge.
However, instead of looking at other potential targets, Guardiola has put his faith in Douglas Luiz.
And, City have asked for a work permit for the 20-year-old.
So, after a summer full of spending it looks as if the Manchester City boss is going down a more youthful route.
The Brazilian was signed for £10 million from Vasco Da Gama 12 months ago and spent last season on loan at Spanish side Girona. But, given the Manchester club’s current situation after missing out on Jorginho, it looks as if Luiz will be given the nod this season.
Interestingly, the Citizens may look to make use of Oleksandr Zinchenko if he stays at the club this summer, so City could line up with a rather young side in the new campaign. But, Luiz’s inclusion will all depend on whether he is granted his work permit.
