Manchester City remain one of the top teams in world football and are on track to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title in the coming months.
Retaining the trophy would be a big feat for the blue half of Manchester, who have so far failed to do such a thing since first winning the title under Roberto Mancini in dramatic fashion.
Manager Pep Guardiola has got his team playing some of the finest football we have seen over in England for quite some time, and while he has a depth of talent to choose from, there are a few in the squad who could well do with putting in some bigger and better performances in the coming months.
In a team full of top talent, you are always going to get some underachievers in the ranks or players not performing up to the standards they have shown in recent times.
With that thought in mind, we’ve looked at TWO Man City players who need to be putting in some better performances between now and the end of the season…
Kevin De Bruyne
It might be a bit of a drastic statement to say De Bruyne has been off the boil, but his own high standards have ensured that he’s there to be shot at when he dips below a certain level.
Sure enough, the Belgian has been injured at times, but prior to that he was off his usual brilliance.
De Bruyne needs to rediscover his best form if City are to wrestle top spot off of Liverpool, and City need him fit and firing to ensure they give themselves the best chance of this happening.
The Argentinian defender has found himself out of favour in the main this term, but football is a squad game, and City are going to need the best of Otamendi in the coming months.
The big defender has been superb for City in his time with the club, and while he won’t be happy at not being a regular at the moment, he still has a job to do.
If he can get back to his best, then he has a crucial part to play for Pep’s men in what is sure to be an exciting title run-in.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
