Unai Emery has a big task on his hands at Arsenal this summer, but fortunately for him, he has a few players that he can build the team around. One such player is Aaron Ramsey, who has offered brilliant quality through the midfield over the last few years.
The Welshman provides brilliant offensive talent for the Gunners, and he’s the sort of player that Emery should build around in the middle of the park. What he lacks, though, is a defensive force that can do more of the dirty work at the Emirates.
This summer, then, bringing in a player similar to N’Golo Kante at Chelsea or Nemanja Matic at Man Utd makes sense, and one player that could be a decent choice is Wilfred Ndidi, who is 21-years-old.
Despite his relative youth, Ndidi has been a regular in the Leicester City midfield this season, and he’s largely taken over the defensive mantle from N’Golo Kante at the King Power Stadium.
Offering brilliant tackling, pace, movement, and passing, the Nigerian serves as the perfect connection between the defence and the attack. With 33 league starts this term, his quality is clearly crucial for the Foxes, and he’s been one of the shining lights at the club this season.
He’s obviously a player that is still improving, but a year or two under Emery at Arsenal could make him even better.
With Ramsey handling much of the offensive work and link-up play, Ndidi will be able to focus primarily on what he does best – breaking up play and moving it forward. He’d be the perfect partner as Arsenal look to enter a new era.
