‘Perfect for Arsenal’, ‘Take him’ – Fans deliver clear message regarding Wenger’s successor

Discussion regarding Arsene Wenger’s successor at the Emirates Stadium have dominated pub talk amongst the Arsenal fans lining up our bar in recent weeks. 

Now that Wenger has finally departed the club after more than 20 years in charge, the supporters can look forward to a new era which they hope will be characterised by silverware and glittering success.

Who exactly should lead the club into this new era is a question which the supporters have been mulling over in great detail of late, with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Thierry Henry firmly diving opinion.

Both of the aforementioned candidates have strong ties to the club and the former has two years of coaching experience learning alongside Pep Guardiola to bring to the table – a fact which suggests he should be up to the task of Premier League management, but plenty of supporters remain unconvinced by his credentials.

However, recent reports from the London Evening Standard suggest that Arsenal are set to open discussions with the former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery regarding the vacancy at the club, although Arteta remains in pole position to take over.

In response to the latest reports, the Arsenal supporters expressed their delight at being linked with a manger who possesses plenty of experience in European football and a track-record which suggests he could lead the club to silverware in the future.

Plenty of fans appear to believe that Emery represents a wiser appointment than Arteta, but there are still many who claim Emery’s Champions League record is far from satisfactory and that Guardiola’s understudy has the potential to become a resounding success in North-London.
