The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been using the World Cup to evaluate this summer’s transfer targets, with Xherdan Shaqiri often on display. Yesterday, the Stoke man played his last World Cup game for another four years when his Swiss side was bombed out of the tournament by a plucky Sweden.
Just watched Shaqiri v Switzerland. He’s got one hell of a left boot, but put in basically no work or running when his team needed a goal to stay in the World Cup…

The Liverpool fans propping our bar up have been looking at the prospect of bringing in Shaqiri for some time now. Stoke City were relegated last season and the Swiss winger has been vocal when discussing his future, almost everyone knows the 26-year-old will be moving on from the Brittania Stadium and with Anfield one of the prime destinations for him, it will be an interesting saga to see if he joins the Kop.
The winger has the ability to turn a game on its head. Some of his career accolades already include scoring the goal of the tournament at Euro 2016, winning a treble with Bayern Munich and claiming two domestic doubles for his boyhood club Basel. With this portfolio of trophies and achievements, it will be a surprise if no one comes in for the ex-Inter Milan and Bayern Munich star, especially at the cut-price £12 million tag that is being quoted.
You can see what our local Reds think of Shaqiri here:
Sorry for 8 million that could rise to 12 he’s a perfect impact player to bring off the bench.

I like him. £12m is a bargain, easily worth double that

We should sign dis guy

Thing is, I think Klopp can turn him into a world class attacking midfielder. Or at least close to.

I don't agree with this actually and don't know why people insist that he has a poor work ethic. He might not have an engine like Mane or Firmino but that will change if we sign him

Klopp would get a proper shift out of him & for approx £14m he would be a bargain!

Whilst work rate might be an issue, the Liverpool fans in the Tavern love a bargain and Shaqiri is just that.
