The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Harry Kane to improve once again next season. It’s been several years of stark progression for the Englishman, and with every passing season, he gets more and more deadly.
Tottenham, though, need to make sure that they are building a squad that can match his quality and ensure that he’s always playing at his best, and so this summer, bringing in a new midfielder makes a lot of sense.
In particular, Kane could benefit from the addition of a new central midfielder that is able to pull the strings in the heart of the pitch, and one option that could be perfect is Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz.
This season, he has played in a number of positions in the midfield, and so that would be very useful for Spurs. He’s most capable through the middle, but having featured in defensive midfield, central midfield and attacking midfield, the impact that he could have in North London is evident. Perhaps he could fit in alongside Eric Dier, then, and serve as Tottenham’s deep-lying playmaker.
A fantastic passer of the ball, he’d be a real asset in the Spurs midfield. Able to pull the strings from deep, he’d be able to release the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Harry Kane ahead of him to devastating effect. Having earned 8 assists in the league this season, his impact as evident – whilst WhoScored.com also note that he has made a whopping 32 key passes – placing him amongst some of Europe’s best in that regard.
Tottenham need to ensure that they’re planning for the future, and the acquisition of a player with such brilliant passing and attacking play could be of huge benefit to Harry Kane.
