‘Perfect Yaya replacement’ – Man City fans encouraged by latest transfer update on Twitter

The Manchester City fans were absolutely delighted in the Transfer Tavern this weekend after results in the Premier League on matchday 27 allowed them to open up a 16-point gap at the top of the table.

If there were any lingering doubts over whether Manchester City could be caught this season prior to the weekend, then they have certainly been eradicated now after The Citizens recorded a 5-1 victory over Leicester and Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United. However, Pep Guardiola’s side were far from their fluid best at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening against The Foxes even though the scoreline suggests otherwise.

In some respects, Leicester were the architects of their own downfall as some sloppy defensive play gave City a helping hand in their 3rd and 4th goals of the match. City’s final goal of the match was a thumping effort from Sergio Aguero after some neat work from 17-year-old Phil Foden who came on for Fernandinho in the 80th minute.

Away from the field, City have been in the headlines once again in the last 24 hours, as The Times have claimed the club are on the verge of completing a £50 million deal for Shakhtar Donestsk midfielder Fred who would complete his move on July 1st this summer.

The Brazilian has been widely touted as an ideal successor for Fernandinho at the heart of City’s midfield, and judging by the reaction from the Citizens faithful on Twitter, it seems the supporters are firmly backing that point of view.

Here’s what the supporters on Twitter had to say about the potential of bringing Fred to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season…
