The amount of speculation surrounding Manchester United this summer is going to be something which dominates the sporting press you would think.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of rebuilding, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faces the tough task of trying to rid his team of so called bad eggs, while also bringing in players who are going to take United to the next level both next season and beyond.

Solskjaer will have his eye on plenty of players no doubt, but moving certain ones on his squad will remain a big priority.

One of the players being linked with a move away from the club is striker Romelu Lukaku, who this week has been mentioned in regards to a move to Inter Milan, with winger Ivan Perisic being offered as part of any deal, according to reports.

This sort of deal makes perfect sense to us here in the Tavern, and while Perisic might now be 30 and heading into the later stages of his career, he is a proven player who is not averse to getting his head down and working hard for the cause, something which United could well do with more of within the squad.

Lukaku has just not done it for United consistently enough, and with the likes of Marcus Rashford jumping ahead of him in the pecking order under Solskjaer, the Belgian would appear to have come to the end of his shelf life at Old Trafford.

While the club will want to get their money back for a player they forked out over £70m a few seasons back, getting Perisic plus a lump of cash in return would soften the blow nicely, with the Croatian being the type of player who can offer dynamism and directness from wide areas for United.

Eight goals last season is a modest return from Perisic, and he is a player who is capable of far more. United might well be just the club to get that extra out of him.
