In news that will interest Liverpool fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern, the Daily Star claim that Philippe Coutinho is set to make an effort to bulk up in order to be a success now that his dream move to the Premier League has occurred.
The pint sized former Inter Milan player and Espanyol loanee has claimed that the physical nature of the Premier League does not bother him and that in order to improve his game he is willing to put in the extra hours at the gym.
He noted that: “I’m quite calm about that. I will get up and carry on playing. I have to score the goal first! In Brazil, the Premier League is followed more than any other by most people and everyone says it is the toughest league in the world. The difference I’ve noticed is you have to be a quick thinker and move around much sooner because the pace is so much higher.”
Now that he has been handed the iconic number ten shirt, the Brazilian is determined to live up to the billing of the number yet has claimed he is relaxed about the weight of expectations on his shoulders. He can’t do much worse than previous Reds number 10 Joe Cole! After being called the ‘golden boy’ of Brazilian football by national compatriot Julio Cesar he noted that: “I need to spend some time at a club to play my best. The No.10 does not give me any added pressure. I am well aware that I am representing a huge club.”
