But according to The Times it is not only Blackburn who are pursuing the former England U21 captain’s signature. Bolton, Wigan Athletic and Hull City have also been named as potential suitors.
Coker, who had a training ground bust up with manager Martin O’Neil last September, is said to want to stay at Villa Park and fight for his place but if either of the clubs can stump up the £5m that Villa would request, then Coker would be sold.
Coker, who has made just 12 appearances this season including starting the last 2 games, is not O’Neil’s preferred choice in the middle of the park.
It is not the first time that the midfielder, who joined Villa from West Ham for £7.5m in July 2007, has been linked with a move away from the club as last summer Tottenham showed interest and looked at taking players such as Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley in a trade.
