The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think he has made a great start to the season…
Since his arrival at Chelsea, N’Golo Kante has been a near constant in Antonio Conte’s side.
The Frenchman has been understated, certainly, but he has done exactly what his coach has asked him to: he has broken up play and moved the ball on – in a similar vein to that of which he did at Leicester City last season.
The Chelsea fans in the Tavern have been impressed with his start, and the general consensus amongst the punters in the Tavern is that he has done a good job.
Everyone in the Tavern was shocked, then, to see an article written by Tottenham veteran Harry Redknapp in which he appears to criticise the midfield.
He continued: “You couldn’t say he is a major player for Chelsea at the moment”.
The punters in the Football Transfer Tavern cannot get their heads around his point here.
One Chelsea fan leaning up against the bar has claimed that his major player comment is a bizarre one.
The Frenchman has played almost every game so far this season; so not to call him a major player doesn’t make sense. In fact, he has suggested that Kante is the major player in the Chelsea side…
Equally, the comment about having not improved Chelsea also makes little sense.
Despite conceding goals, the Blues have looked much more solid defensively this season than they did last year – and most of the goals conceded have been down to defensive mistakes more than anything else.
Our landlord is doesn’t think a career in writing is for Harry Redknapp…
