Player Ratings – The ‘ A Long Way Home With No Points’ Edition

Liverpool started the brighter and Skrtel put them one-up. They had several half chances to extend their lead but they failed to take them.

Leading 1-0 at the break, it was only a matter of time before Tottenham got back into it but Jermain Defoe put his penalty wide before Luka Modric’s bursting run was turned in by the Slovakian to level the scores.

Lennon stole in for a winner after he left Konchsky for dead and placed the ball passed Reina to give Spurs the points.

Gomes – A couple of decent saves, very good in closing down onrushing strikers. 6
– Worked the right flank very well. He got forward and tracked back, currently playing at the top of his game. 7
Gallas – Got caught out a couple of times by Torres’ forward runs. However the captain had a very stable game. 6
Kaboul – Commanding in the air, went off injured mid-way through the first-half. 5
– Another consistent display. Looked very assured at left-back but rarely got forward. 7
– A couple of darting runs, but lacked cutting edge but proved to be the match winner with a well taken goal in injury-time. 7
Palacios – Gave the ball away too often. He is a player severely lacking in confidence. 4

Modric – (Star man) Bossed the midfield. Fantastic display and his assist got Spurs back into the game. 9
– He gave Johnson a lot of problems and produced a couple of great crosses and had a shot cleared off the line. 8
Van der Vaart
– Went off with a hamstring injury after 10 minutes. Replaced by Defoe 5
– Won his fair share of headers but never really looked a threat. 6

Bassong – Replaced Kaboul early on and made two high quality tackles on Torres. Solid display. 8
– His pace caused problems but needs his confidence back. Missed a penalty at 1-0 down. 6
Sandro – Injury-time subsititute, not enough time to impress. 5

Reina – Didn’t really have much to do, blocked Bale’s shot comfortably. 6
– Had the dreaded task of playing against Bale and he struggled. Going forward he shows signs of his quality. 6
– The Tottenham strikers never really caused him trouble but made an outstanding block from Defoe’s goal-bound shot. 7
Skrtel – Scored at both ends. Dealt with Peter Crouch very comfortably especially in the first-half ┬ábut he got caught out by the pace of Defoe. 6
– Poor game, struggled to get close to Lennon and he struggled when in possession. 5
Maxi Rodriguez
– Supported the attacks well in the first-half and had a good effort palmed away by Gomes. 6
– Got given the runaround today by Modric and failed to make an impact going forward. 5
– The jury is still out for him but his set-pieces were good and he had a great left footed drive whistle past the post late on. 7
Kuyt – No questioning his work rate once again, but he never caused any problems out on the right. 6
– Looked threatening getting in behind the opposition back-line but struggled to find space for a decent attempt at goal. 6
Ngog – Poor again, doesn’t look like a good enough replacement should Torres get injured. 4

Kyrgiakos – Late sub for the injured Carragher. 5
Aurelio – Came on for Ngog, also failed to stamp his authority on the game. 5
