Player reportedly ‘desperate’ for Chelsea exit this summer

Nemanja Matic is a fan favourite amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…

The Serbian moved to Stamford Bridge following a stint in Portugal with Benfica, and he immediately made an impression under the managership of Jose Mourinho. Putting in an incredible display against Man City, it looked as though Chelsea had bagged themselves a bargain.

However, the 2015/16 season saw his form drop dramatically, and in truth, he is yet to really recover. Sure, last season was a decent one for the Serbian – but he has really struggled to regain the form of his early days at Chelsea under Mourinho whilst Conte has been in charge.

Unfortunately for the Blues in the Transfer Tavern, they may not get an opportunity to see him return to form, with the Telegraph reporting that he is ‘desperate’ to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

In truth, it is probably a good time for Matic to leave the club, as he found himself out of the Blues’ first team at points towards the end of last season. Cesc Fabregas began to flourish alongside N’Golo Kante, and the reportedly impending arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko will only serve to make life more difficult for Matic.

The Serbian has been an excellent servant for Chelsea, but our landlord thinks that it is best that both parties move on this summer.
