Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish blamed referee Andre Marriner for snatching away all three points from his side against United. Dalglish believes that certain decisions against his side cost him dear.
Steven Gerrard scored the opener with a free kick after Rio Ferdinand tripped Charlie Adam outside the box. It would have been a second yellow for Rio which would have left United with 10 men and a goal down.
Dalglish also believes his team should have been awarded a penalty after Johnny Evans handballed from Kuyt’s header.
“We were disappointed we didn’t get a penalty but you just have to live with it.
“Rio was honest enough to admit he made the foul and you never want to see a player sent off. But if Rio continues to be honest, he’ll say we should have had a penalty as well for the handball by Jonny Evans”.
Dalglish added further excuses; I mean complaints when the header that led to the corner for United’s goal should have been a goal- kick instead.
“I also thought it was a goal-kick rather than a corner when they scored.”
It’s not the first time Dalglish has moaned at refereeing decisions this season and certainly won’t be the last. The fact that prior to this match Liverpool were very fortunate to see Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell sent off for a tackle on actor Luis Suarez. Dalglish didn’t complain about the referee then did he?
