‘Please get him’ – Leeds United fans on Twitter urge club to make one summer transfer move

The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news from Phil Hay that Birmingham’s David Stockdale could be on his way to Yorkshire this summer as the shot-stopper has been told he can leave Birmingham. The 32-year-old ‘keeper would be a perfect fit at Elland Road after the club suffered from goalkeeping issues this season, eventually turning to young Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Leeds fans propping our bar up will want to see an improvement on the season just gone. The Whites managed to win just four games between the turn of the year and the end of the season, a period in which they saw Thomas Christensen get the sack despite his early season heroics that saw Leeds top of the league for two weeks in September. With Paul Heckingbottom in charge for a full pre-season, the fans will be eyeing up a better finish than this season’s 13th place.

Heckingbottom will be scouring the market for new signings, with Kyle Bartley, Stockdale and Oliver McBurnie all linked with a move to play under the ex-Barnsley gaffer next season. The Elland Road faithful will be aiming for a play-off place next season as they target an end to what will be a nine-year stay in England’s second tier. Promotion will be on the Leeds fans mind, having last played in the Premier League in the 2003/04 season and Stockdale could be key to that with heavy Championship experience in his locker.
