Our Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping to see Daniel Levy bring Mauricio Pochettino some new players to arrive through the doors of their new stadium next season.
Spurs crept into the top-four places near the end of the season, finishing third – which was impressive given their start. Indeed, following the semi-final defeat to Man United recently, reports surfaced suggesting the Argentine was considering his future at the club and Mauricio Pochettino certainly cut a demoralised figure prior to his new contract.
Spurs have had a near enough settled side for some time now, but our punters feel that for Pochettino to take this team to a level where they can win a trophy, there needs to be a serious shakeup and a certain revitalising ahead of next season, for fear of it becoming stagnant – much like their north London rivals Arsenal.
If Pochettino is to remain happy at the new stadium and look to bring any kind of trophy to Spurs during his time at the club, then our barman thinks he needs Levy to deliver this megastar player. With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at the player who could come in and really light things up within the squad…
OUR VERDICT – Nabil Fekir
Nabil Fekir had one of his best ever seasons last campaign, drawing attention from many a club around Europe including Liverpool, who he was close to joining recently. Indeed, his range of passing and direct dribbling ability would surely mix things up in the Spurs midfield and, he could be the type of player to sit behind Harry Kane whilst feeding him the ball, much like he has done for Lyon this season.
With Tottenham’s pace and high press, he could be the man to unlock a defence should Levy be able to do what FSG couldn’t.
