Tottenham Hotspur took another huge step towards Champions League qualification on Saturday afternoon as they recorded a 1-0 victory in their North-London derby clash with Arsenal, and the resident Lilywhites were celebrating in the Transfer Tavern following their result.
Harry Kane was once again the derby hero for Tottenham Hotspur as they deservedly claimed victory against Arsenal on Saturday – a result which saw them move into 4th place for the first time since December. Tottenham were far superior to Arsenal in the second-half as the travelling Gunners struggled to cope with the intensity of Pochettino’s side. Spurs were almost made to pay for their abundance of missed opportunities in injury time, but Alexandre Lacazette missed a glorious opportunity to snatch a point for his side.
Next up for Tottenham is an extremely tough looking away trip to face Juventus in Turin tomorrow night for the first-leg of what promises to be a thrilling encounter in the last-sixteen of the Champions League.
Ahead of their trip to face the Old Lady, The Guardian confirmed that Toby Alderweireld will not be travelling with the squad to face Juventus due to concerns over his fitness.
The latest news over Alderweireld has stirred up something of a media frenzy with speculation regarding his future at the club taking centre-stage in discussions amongst fans and pundits alike.
However, the majority of Spurs fans have dismissed the speculation as utter nonsense, and they have pointed towards the fact that he has played just 1 competitive fixture since October as a legitimate reason to suggest he isn’t ready to tackle the intensity of a Champions League encounter just yet.
Here’s what the Tottenham supporters had to say about Alderweireld on Twitter following the news that he will remain in London for their trip to Juventus…
It appears as though Toby Alderweireld will not be traveling to Turin with the rest of the #THFC squad.
Might have something to do with a long injury lay-off….. #THFC #COYS

Don't think he was ever going to be rushed back, Poch always integrates them back in over a period of time, Hopefully this is the same, it's one thing thinking your fit even Rose admitted after his come back he was way off the mark.

Cant see an issue, best have him at full strength for the run in than 80/90% and risk aggravating the original injury.

This is a real over exaggeration
Perhaps he was injured for 3 months and needs to get fitness— SpursTransfer10 (@SpursTransfer10) February 12, 2018
Player to be left at home to work on fitness after being out injured for three months. What are Tottenham thinking?
