According to Football. London, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said that goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was his Man of the Match against Brighton on Saturday.

The Argentinian shot stopper received this praise from his countrymen after a resolute display in torrid conditions on the south coast. He was only minutes away from a clean sheet, after being tested on a number of occasions throughout the contest.

It was the 26-year-old's second Premier League appearance for The Lilywhites, after a similarly impressive performance against Crystal Palace last season that earned him the Man of the Match award.

These recent comments by Pochettino could suggest how he views his goalkeepers at the club. With captain and regular Hugo Lloris out, the Tottenham boss initially relied on Michel Vorm between the sticks, but the Dutchman made some crucial errors as Tottenham slumped to three consecutive losses for the first time under Pochettino.

But Vorm's knee injury came as a blessing in disguise for the north London club, as Gazzaniga was able to don the gloves again and impress. This looks to have nudged him ahead of Vorm in Pochettino's estimations, although both are well behind France captain Lloris.

However, while it is unclear as to when Lloris will return to the Tottenham starting XI, it looks as though they have a new deputy that can hopefully stop the rot at the club before the Frenchman returns.

Tottenham face Watford on Wednesday in the League Cup, hoping to avenge the loss they suffered at the hands of The Hornets a few weeks ago.
