Spurs fans here in the Tavern are growing in concern with the shocking drop in form they’ve come to witness over the past week. Of course, after the weekend’s despair for many of the white side of North London, Tottenham are looking for Mauricio Pochettino to guide a resurrection, with some much-needed improvements becoming apparent.
Having been tipped for a possible Premier League title challenge, these claims have now been swiftly discarded as the Lilywhites look to be playing an unfamiliar game of catch up. First a North London Derby defeat, and now being held at home by relegation battlers West Bromwich Albion, has got fans kitted out in the crest of Tottenham Hotspur scratching their heads a little. Although the European dream looks realistic, this form certainly isn’t going to bolster the chances of making those hopes a reality.
Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino is the latest Spurs man to come up with a bizarre remark in leaving Danny Rose out of their match-day squad in the bitter defeat to rivals Arsenal, sparking an evident rift between the two as an angered Rose looks to the aid of Manchester United to save him from the sinking ship, who rumors suggest are looking to snap the left-back up in January.
However, Spurs fans prayers may have been answered with suggestions that Fulham’s highly rated left-back Ryan Sessegnon could be set to make a January switch to the club, in what would be an extortionate amount of money paid for the youngster.
With Rose so clearly out of the picture after a fairly public falling out with Pochettino – arguably a mistake on the Argentine’s behalf – Spurs really have to move for Sessegnon, though he could cost a pretty penny.
So, with the departure of Danny Rose surely becoming a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’, is the rumoured £30 million for the English youngster too much to warrant a purchase?
