The Tottenham fans are eagerly awaiting to find out how manager Mauricio Pochettino plans to build on two outstanding seasons in the Premier League with some canny additions this summer.
According to reports from The Mirror the former Southampton boss is looking to rejig his defensive options this summer and could be taking on his former employers to land one deal.
The tabloid claim that the Spurs boss is looking to replace defender Kevin Wimmer with an English option and is looking at deals for both Swansea’s Alfie Mawson and Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson, the latter having been linked with a move to Saints earlier this summer.
Boro were supposedly looking to land £20m from a deal involving Gibson, who shone in their lone Premier League season last term despite their relegation, while Spurs are chasing a similar fee for Wimmer this summer.
Mawson also impressed under Paul Clement in South Wales, showing a knack for popping up with a goal every now and then whilst also remaining astute at the back, meaning either would be a good option for Pochettino as he looks to swell his ranks ahead of the news season.
