The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are always on the lookout for the next great European starlet. They’ve enjoyed the fruits of Mauricio Pochettino’s labour with Dele Alli in recent years, and they’re eager for the Argentine to repeat that feat.
Fortunately for them, then, recent transfer news surrounding Tottenham will surely bring a smile to their faces.
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham are targeting Norwich City midfielder James Maddison, who has impressed in the Championship this term. They’re facing competition from the likes of Liverpool, though, and so a move won’t be easy.
An impressive attacking midfielder, he has enjoyed a fantastic season this term. Having scored 7 goals and earned 5 assists, he has looked very good indeed.
Displaying fantastic energy, technique, pace and skill on the ball, the Englishman looks like a top talent – and at 21-years-old, his best years are certainly yet to come.
Tottenham’s approach to youth – with Mauricio Pochettino always eager to make the most of their talents – could give them the advantage over a few of their rivals for his signature, but it will be difficult nonetheless.
Tottenham, and particularly Mauricio Pochettino, have a very strong record of developing young players, and Maddison would be a great addition.
If given ample opportunity, which he no doubt would receive, he could turn into a star if his form this season in the Championship is anything to go by.
It’s a move that makes sense for Tottenham and the player, and so if Spurs can agree a deal, you’d imagine that he would be up for the switch.
