Inter and AC Milan have entered the race to sign Arsenal transfer target Lukas Podolski, according to a report on Goal.com
The Italian’s interest may have come just too late, with Podolski reportedly having already agreed terms with the North-Londoners (Daily Mail). A fee has yet to be agreed however, which could see Podolski heading for Italy.
Inter have had a torrid season so far, with their strikers Diego Forlan, Giampaolo Pazzini and Mauro Zarate failing to hit top form. Diego Milito has been marginally better, scoring thirteen goals, although the Uruguayan is capable of much better.
Podolski could be the perfect man to freshen up the Nerazzurri’s aging strikeforce.
In contrast, Inter’s city rivals are enjoying a fine season, challenging for silverware on all three fronts. Milan failed to bring Carlos Tevez to the San Siro last month, and Adriano Galliani may look to the German international as an alternative.
Podolski would join the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, and Antonio Cassano in Milan’s attack, whilst Brazilian international Pato is expected to leave.
Schalke 04 are also keen on Podolski, but it’s unlikely the Polish-born forward would join another German club. Despite this late interest from Italy, it looks most likely Podolski will be at The Emirates next year, but will he be leading the line or partnering RVP?
