The Tottenham fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are getting impatient over the wait for their first deal of the summer, and it seems they may be left waiting a little longer.
Reports from Il Messaggero (via Sport Witness) claim that Spurs had seen an offer in the region of €30-35m accepted for Lazio winger Keita Balde, who decided that White Hart Lane, or Wembley Stadium for a year, wasn’t for him.
The £21.25m-rated forward is supposedly holding out for a move to Turin in order to line up for Champions League finalists and has thus also rejected moves to both Everton and Napoli.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a stand out campaign last season, scoring 16 and setting up a further five either from the left-wing or playing off the striker in a role similar to that of Dele Alli’s under Mauricio Pochettino.
With that in mind, our landlord has suggested that while the powers that be in north London will be disappointed with the rejection, it will not have been the biggest of blows considering that Balde was never going to be a regular starter.
Spurs fans, we want to hear from you! Are you bothered by Balde’s snub or does Pochettino have bigger fish to fry this summer? Let us know in the comments below…Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
