The resident Hammers were feeling relieved in the Transfer Tavern yesterday evening, after their side left New Meadow with a place in the draw of the fourth round of the FA Cup.
West Ham United endured an extremely tough afternoon away at Shrewsbury in the third round of the FA Cup yesterday, and they will probably consider themselves slightly fortuitous to remain in the competition following a lacklustre performance. The Hammers looked bereft of ideas in a slightly new-look starting eleven, as David Moyes opted to rotate his squad and preserve some fresh legs for their battle for survival in the Premier League.
The Scottish manager handed Javier Hernandez only his second start for the club since he took over from Slaven Bilic as manager at the beginning of November.
And judging by the reaction of the West Ham fans on Twitter, Hernandez will be lucky to start for the club again anytime soon after an uninspiring performance at centre-forward.
Chicharito has built his career in European football based on his poachers instinct and finishing ability, but his overall impact on proceedings this season has often been criticised by supporters who believe he is ineffective without the right service.
In his short career for The Irons so far, Hernandez has managed to score just 4 goals from 21 appearances, so the frustration from the supporters is completely understandable.
Here’s what the fans had to say about the performance of Javier Hernandez against Shrewsbury…
Is it me or does chicharito look absolute poor ….

Not just you mate. Mind you Ayew looks poor as well

Lots of dead wood at our club need to move it on #quick

Chicharito – another poor performance today. The style of play doesn't help him but he's not making a case for himself either. Needs to fix up.
Kouyate – not even sure what he brings as a footballer, can't pass, doesn't run, can't defend or attack? Might as well just sell him.

Chicharito can't kick a football. He's been poor, uninterested and lazy. https://t.co/dFFBlaOXpX

couldn't even pass the ball a couple of yards to Ayew

Can’t belive people are still making excuses for him simply not good enough

That’s why as I’ve said before he’s spent his career on the bench

When Moyes arrived at West Ham I wrote a piece stating how Chicha would suffer. Not necessarily groundbreaking analysis, but after what I saw today, it’s even worse.
Chicharito should do everything he can and move back to North America for the remainder of the season.
