Chelsea

Portuguese international is Manchester United’s…for £37m

William CarvalhoThe Daily Express are fast becoming Manchester United fans’ favourite publication here in the Football Transfer Tavern after they claimed the Red Devils are closing in on £37 million midfielder.

The player in question is Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, who has also been a target for Chelsea and Portuguese compatriot Jose Mourinho, leading us to expect a bidding war.

However, Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal clearly means business this summer and the majority of our punters think Chelsea are holding out to try and spend their money on Juventus’ Paul Pogba.

This means that the path to Carvalho will be clear for United.

Sporting Lisbon know that they have no chance of keeping the player when a club as big as Manchester United come calling, meaning all they can really hope for is a decent transfer fee, and over a pint, we muse that nearly £40 million certainly amounts to that!

Manchester United fans. Is £37 million far too much for the young Portuguese star? Are you being held to ransom? Let us know your thoughts below.
