Portuguese Press Suggest Interest In Striker With £20M Buy-Out Clause

Redknapps’s back in the market for another Dutch play maker. After losing out on the England job to Roy Hodgson, Harry’s diving head first into transfer speculation once again.

A “triffic” example of this can be found in Portugese newspaper A Bola say TalkSPORT who report that the proud wheeler and dealer’s latest target could be 21-year old Dutch international Georginio Wijnaldum.

Having been the latest youngster to enjoy a tremendous season for PSV Eindhoven, it’s thought many of Europe’s elite will look to snap up the Dutchman. However, they might not be so keen on the extortionate buyout clause negotiated by his club worth £20 million. Much like Rafael Van Der Vaart, Wijnaldum excels in a role behind the front man, and could ideally fill in for his international team mate when he decides to disappear for a chunk of the season once again.

After becoming the youngest player to ever feature for PSV’s rivals Fayenoord, and progressing rapidly enough to play in 130 matches for the club, he moved to his current side for a reported five million euros last summer.

He’s since proved his ability to find the net by notching 11 goals in 25 appearances this term, with his form earning a first call up to the national team back in September. His debut goal on the international stage came a whopping four minutes after his introduction and whilst PSV will do all they can to keep the big boys at bay, you get the feeling their star man is destined for greater things.

Could that be Tottenham? Well, that depends on how their own season comes to an end. If they do qualify for the Champions League you can bet Harry will have long forgotten about the Euro’s whilst he enjoys a summer of shopping. And an exceptionally talented player maker such as Wijnaldum would certainly complement the likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale perfectly.
