Portuguese star categorically rules out Chelsea switch

Gomes.jpgChelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are used to getting things their own way, such is the talent of their squad but one transfer target they don’t look like getting their hands on is Valencia’s Andre Gomes.

Metro today report quotes taken directly from the Portuguese international who is seemingly ready to get his head down and kick on at the Mestalla for the forseeable future.

Having only traded his native Portugal for La Liga last summer, Gomes originally joined Los Che on loan from Benfica but ended up making the switch permanent in December.

An all-action, box-to-box midfielder, one of our Chelsea regulars turns to our landlord and claims that Gomes could have been a like-for-like replacement for Ramires.

The Brazilian international has struggled to nail down a regular slot in Jose Mourinho’s first team this season following the arrival of Cesc Fabregas who forges something of a dream combination with Nemanja Matic in the Blues’ midfield.

However, Ramires’ status as a Chelsea player seems safe for now with Gomes not interested in making a second transfer in quick succession.

The Valencia man noted: “I’m not worried about what the future holds. I am convinced that I will stay in Valencia because I am very happy here.

“I just think about spending the next season in Spain. Chelsea? I do not know anything and also my agent is not aware of any opportunity.”
