The Daily Mail have put a smile on the faces of some of our punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern after they claimed Chelsea have missed out on yet another Atletico Madrid player.
The Blues seem to have abandoned their scouting department this summer and have decided to buy everything they need from one convenience store with everything under one roof – the Vicente Calderon.
However, in a blow to Jose Mourinho, Portuguese midfielder Tiago has decided to pen a new two-year deal with Atleti and will snub any offers from the West London club after talks between the Blues and the former Chelsea star broke down.
As one of our punters notes, Tiago would have been in good company had he of moved to Stamford Bridge, with Diego Costa and Filipe Luis already there and Miranda potentially set to follow!
The 33-year-old is already well known to Blues fans having spent a season at the club under Mourinho in 2004/05, yet the majority of our punters did not really want to see him back in the Premier League.
Chelsea fans. Do you think this is a blessing in disguise? Was Tiago ever needed back at the club? Let us know your thoughts below.
