Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern have their eyes set on the club securing a future for a current loanee, as his impressive performance on debut has many singing his praise.
Indeed, Rafa Benitez was heavily critical of Newcastle United’s dealings during the January transfer window, as an internal debate was planned in order to underline what went wrong. Although, it looks as if all the negativity surrounding their deficiencies in the January transfer window have been put to bed, after loan signing Martin Dubravka delivered a mouthwatering performance on his debut for the Magpies. And, our local residents here in the Tavern were sent into a frenzy after the latest developments, as according to reports from the Chronicle Live, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has hinted that he’s here to stay at St James’ Park.
Indeed, the Slovak hopes that finding a new house on Tyneside can help him settle down quickly, to allow for him to build on his match-winning performance against Manchester United on Sunday. And, the Magpies have the opportunity to bring him in on a permanent deal at the end of the season if they seek fit, as a £5.2 million move would be a thing of beauty in the eyes of the Slovakian international.
Of course, after making your debut for the club in the manner of which Dubravka did, there’s no surprise that Newcastle United are already looking at making his current deal a permanent one in the summer. Following that famous win, there were reports suggesting the Magpies were already looking to extend their agreement with him.
And, as if fans didn’t love the sight of the ‘keeper in their side enough already, then here’s a few words he shared with the Chronicle:
“I am happy about that now.
“It has been tiring living in a hotel. I am happy to feel at home.
“This is a new adventure for me.
“The people have been very friendly to me from the beginning and that’s important.”
The goalkeeper wanting to pledge his future to Newcastle United is huge for the club, as they now seem to have found themselves a shot-stopper that’s worthy of a starting place at St James’ Park. Indeed, a total bargain buy for the Magpies should the deal go through, with a measly £5.2 million proving to be an absolute steal in today’s market.
