The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted with the fine form of Romelu Lukaku this season…
The Belgian has adjusted to life in Manchester fantastically, and he has fabulously filled a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-sized hole in the heart of the Man Utd attack.
Having bagged 7 league goals already, he’s quickly become a fan favourite in the Transfer Tavern, and so it’s no surprise that a recent injury scare has left supporters sweating.
The Belgian has been recovering over the last few days after suffering a fitness issue, with an ankle problem raising concern that he could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines. This would, of course, be a massive blow to the Red Devils, with very few other options available for Jose Mourinho at present.
Fortunately, though, Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has provided an update on the matter, and for the most part, it’s positive news for Man Utd. According to Terreur, Lukaku is in with a chance of playing for Belgium against Cyprus next week, suggesting that he is well on the way to returning to full fitness.

On one hand, this is great news for Man Utd. If he plays, then he’s clearly fit enough to feature for Man Utd at the weekend, and getting a few minutes under his belt should prepare him nicely for Man Utd’s next game.
However, on the flip side, it could be seen as an unnecessary risk – with a few more days off combined with a few light sessions at Carrington perhaps a better course of action.
In truth, the Man Utd fans in the pub just want what’s best for their club, with a huge game on the horizon. Man Utd are set to take on Liverpool next weekend, and given the history that the game carries, nothing but a win will be tolerated.
The fans in the pub are desperate for Lukaku to return in time to face the Reds.
Realistically, it seems unlikely that he will be risked unless he’s 100%, and so the Man Utd fans don’t have too much to worry about.
Lukaku rarely has injury problems, and he’s clearly a very fit player, and so he’ll know best.
If he’s fit to feature, then he’ll undoubtedly be ready to represent his club thereafter too.
