It’s no secret that its been a disappointing season for the blue half of the San Siro and a serious summer shake-up of the squad is badly needed.
Andrea Stramaccioni’s men have struggled at the back of late, with the stalwart defending of Mourinho’s all conquering side seeming a lifetime ago. This has lead The Mirror to suggest that Inter will be sending for defensive reinforcements come the summer, with two Premiership players on the radar.
The first player the Italian giants are eyeing to sure up their side is the reliably solid Nigel De Jong. The Manchester City defensive midfielder has struggled for first team action this campaign as Roberto Mancini has favoured more attacking midfield options.
The Mirror believe Inter are willing to pay up to £8 million for the Dutch international. For many sides that would seem a tempting valuation for a player used only fleeting, but this may not prove the case when it comes to comes to convincing cash rich City to sell. Mancini has still utilised De Jong later on in close games to firm up the midfield and may be reluctant to lose this option unless a replacement can be sourced.
If De Jong is to make the move to Milan he could see himself joined by Tottenham defender Kyle Walker. The Englishman has attracted not only admiring glances from his fellow professionals, after being awarded the PFA young player of the year award earlier this week, but has also caught the eye of Inter Milan.
The Mirror report that Inter understand Tottenham would not currently consider selling the right back but plan to continue tracking the defender with a view to making a future bid.
