After the disappointment of the Champions League final and the Nabil Fekir saga rumbling on, Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting nervous about who Klopp will be able to bring in. If they make this signing, however, they may just have the best centre-back pairing in the league.
According to Italian publication, Tuttosport Atletic Madrid defender and Uraguay captain, Diego Godin has a £17.6 million release clause in his current deal at Atletico Madrid.

Moreover, the report claims that Godin only has two years left on his current deal and is uncertain as to whether his future remains in Spain and could be tempted to try one last challenge in England.
The Atletico stalwart has been one of the best defenders in the world over the last few years and although he is 32-years-old, he would add some vital leadership and quality to Liverpool’s backline.
While Virgil Van Dijk has been a huge boost fro Klopp since his arrival, Dejan Lovren can at times be great but always seems to be liable to a mistake.
It’s true that while at Atletico, Godin has always had a solid midfield in front of him and two defensively responsible fullbacks on either side, which eliminates the chances of him getting exposed.
Furthermore, due to the pace of the Premier League and Liverpool’s high pressing style, it could be quite a test but if Liverpool can add him to their ranks for the price reported, they may just have added a defender that could push them towards the title.
