Potential arrival of £19.5m-rated midfielder will only boost Harry Winks’ Tottenham career

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Pochettino can make some valuable additions to his squad this month in order to strengthen their prospects of finishing in the top-four.

Despite finishing in second place in the Premier League last season, Mauricio Pochettino’s side look set to face a tough battle to achieve qualification to the Champions League this season. However, the resident Lilywhites propping up the bar in the Tavern are feeling confident about their club’s future prospects due to the wealth of young talent that are currently plying their trade in North-London.

The likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier have all made the step up the the first-team in recent years and enjoyed plenty of success – particularly Harry Kane who is now without doubt the most potent striker in world football.

One of Tottenham’s more recent success stories with regards to promoting youth players to the first team is the emergence of Harry Winks in the past two seasons.

The 21-year-old looks to be consistently improving game by game in the heart of the Spurs midfield, and if he continues in the same vein throughout his career then his future will surely be a bright one for both club and country.

And Winks’ development could be further enhanced by the arrival of a new player in the near future, if reports in The Express which link Barcelona’s Andre Gomes to Tottenham prove to be true.

The arrival of Andre Gomes (valued at £19.5 by Transfermarkt) will not only provide Winks with healthy competition for places in the centre of Tottenham’s midfield, but it will also lend him the opportunity to learn from a player who has enjoyed one of the most prestigious footballing educations a player could wish for during his time at the Nou Camp.

If Gomes can effectively share his education with Winks then the future England star is bound to reap the rewards, so Pochettino must bring Gomes to the club this month to bolster his midfield options and encourage further improvement from Winks.
