With goals up front having been a problem for Crystal Palace this season, the Eagles are set to turn their attention to signing a new striker in the summer transfer window.
And one player the south London club are said to have their eyes on is Birmingham City’s Che Adams, according to The Telegraph.
With that in mind, here are two potential consequences for Crystal Palace that could follow any possible arrival of the 22-year-old.
Less Pressure On Wilfried Zaha’s Shoulders
This and the previous season, Wilfried Zaha has really been carrying the mantle for Crystal Palace.
In open play, he is the Eagles’ most productive player with his goals and assists, alongside Luka Milivojevic’s efficiency from the penalty spot, keeping Roy Hodgson’s side afloat.
The Ivory Coast international, though, needs more help — and Adams could just be the person to give him that, which would be sure to delight him.
If he can come in and replicate something close to the goalscoring form he has shown in the Championship this campaign, then it could help lift some serious pressure off of Zaha’s shoulders.
Premier League Rival Dealt Huge Blow
As well as Crystal Palace, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Southampton are also said to be interested in Adams (also per The Telegraph).
Like Hodgson, the Austrian has had his problems up front this campaign, too, making a move for the in-form Birmingham man a logical one.
Crystal Palace, however, would be wise to do everything in their power to see off potential competition from the south coast club.
By doing so, they would prevent a potential relegation rival from strengthening while fixing an area of their squad that has given them so much trouble of late.
