Despite their transfer embargo, Chelsea still appear to be lining up targets for the summer.
The Daily Mirror reports that, as well as Arsenal, the Blues are also keen on signing Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth.
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form for Eddie Howe’s side this season, making it no surprise that the London giants are now interested in his services.
And should the latter be the ones to come out victors in any potential transfer tussle, here are two consequences that could follow.
Willian Leaves Chelsea
Willian continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona (Telegraph), and the addition of another wide man such as Fraser could be the development that finally pushes the Brazilian out of Stamford Bridge.
Following the emergence of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Willian has struggled to retain a spot in Maurizio Sarri’s starting XI.
From his perspective, the last thing he needs is another challenge from another in-form winger, one who has provided 13 assists in the Premier League this season.
When you include the arrival of Christian Pulisic, too, things look bleak for the 30-year-old.
Gonzalo Higuain Starts Scoring
Despite his struggles in a blue shirt, Gonzalo Higuain looks set to remain at Chelsea beyond his initial loan spell.
“In theory, yes,” Sarri was quoted as saying by BBC Sport when asked if Higuain would be staying at Stamford Bridge. “I think in the next season he will be able to score a lot.”
And with a player like Fraser in the side, Higuain should have a good chance of doing that.
The Scotland international is the sort of wide man who beats his full-back with pace before putting an accurate ball into the box, something Higuain could thrive off next term if he is still at Chelsea.
