The rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold has been one of the most pleasing narratives for Liverpool fans in the past two seasons.
The right-back has gone from a youth academy prospect to one of the top fullbacks in Europe and a main cog in Liverpool’s bid for their first Premier League title ever, and his young age and love of the Reds have supporters giddy that the England international could remain essential to the team for years to come.
But that doesn’t mean Liverpool have to rely solely on the defender or plan for the future still, and for Jurgen Klopp, it is looking like the Reds manager is going to kill two birds with one stone this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are preparing a bid for Fulham youngster Cody Drameh this summer after club scouts were left impressed with the 17-year-old right-back following recent assignments.
With only one year left on his current scholarship and Liverpool willing to pay a fee for the teenager, what would the potential consequences be of Klopp signing Drameh this summer?
Liverpool sign next fullback superstar
The importance of fullbacks in the modern game is currently at it’s apex, with teams spending millions on players who can fill these positions well and be able to contribute to the team in both defence and attack, and in Drameh, Liverpool will have just that.
The England U-18 international has been likened to Alexandre-Arnold this season with Fulham, and if Drameh is to continue his development as a player under the defender as well as Klopp, the right-back will be more than capable of becoming the next fullback superstar in Merseyside in the future.
Reds supporters excited about future
With Alexander-Arnold making the right-back position his own and Drameh acting as the perfect understudy, Liverpool fans have a lot to be excited about.
Having a clear plan for the future allows Klopp to focus on other areas of the pitch as well as determine where current youth prospects can find themselves in the team in the coming years, particularly Ki-Jana Hoever, how has been seen as a centre-back and could partner alongside Drameh in the upcoming seasons.
