Potential consequences of Arsenal signing Tagliafico

Arsenal will feel extremely disappointed with Saturday’s result in the North London derby as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a penalty in the dying embers.

The Gunners now find themselves one point behind Manchester United in the race for a top four spot, so they’ll need to enjoy a strong finish to the current campaign if they are to meet their aims.

Although, it appears as if Unai Emery already has one eye on a possible summer swoop, as according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are interested in signing Nicholas Tagliafico.

Tagliafico has established himself as one of the most exciting full-backs in Europe this season, so his potential arrival would be sure to excite supporters and the club.

So, here are the potential consequences of signing Nicholas Tagliafico in the summer…

UNAI EMERY SECURES POTENTIAL NACHO MONREAL REPLACEMENT

Nacho Monreal has been battling with Sead Kolasinac for a place in the side at left-back this season. Unai Emery has chopped and changed things at the back, so neither player has really been able to make the position their own.

But, according to Sport (via Daily Mail), Barcelona are interested in signing Nacho Monreal in the summer.

So, Emery could secure Monreal’s potential replacement in the form of Tagliafico if the Gunners decide to make a move in the summer, which would make sense as he’s younger and more attack-minded.

UPSET RIVALS

Indeed, Arsenal supporters would love nothing more than to see their side pip bitter rivals Spurs to a signing in the summer, after failing find the winning goal in the North London derby last time out.

Interestingly, Spurs are reportedly (as per ESPN, via One Football) interested in signing Tagliafico.

The likes of Ben Davies and Danny Rose haven’t exactly been impressive in the current campaign, so the Gunners have the perfect opportunity to upset their rivals by getting the better of them in the race for the Argentine. This would come as a huge blow for Mauricio Pochettino, as his side desperately need defensive reinforcements.
