Liverpool fans will feel extremely confident about their side’s Premier League title chances if they manage to make it past Spurs tomorrow at Anfield. Of course, Wolves and Chelsea could still pose a threat to the Reds’ title pursuit, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the real danger.
Although, it looks as if the Reds are already looking towards the summer transfer window, as according to Football Insider, Michael Edwards has instructed Liverpool scouts to keep a close eye on Norwich’s Ben Godfrey.
The 21-year-old has been moulded into a central defender in the current campaign and it’s safe to say that it’s worked perfectly as he’s played a huge part in the Canaries’ rise to the top of the Championship.
With that being said, here are the potential consequences of the Norwich man joining…
FSG SECURE ANOTHER GENIUS SIGNING
FSG have secured a number of incredible signings over the years but one of their best in recent times has to be when they spent just £10 million to sign Andy Robertson from Hull City.
Interestingly, it appears as if the Reds are weighing up a £10 million approach for Godfrey as well, so bringing him to Anfield could see FSG secure yet another genius signing if he goes on to follow in Robertson’s footsteps.
The central defender certainly has all the ingredients to become a star in the Premier League and his versatility could prove crucial, as he’s also able to play in the middle of midfield.
JURGEN KLOPP DITCHES JOEL MATIP
Joel Matip has surprised everyone in the current campaign with his performances alongside Virgil Van Dijk as he’s filled in fantastically in Joe Gomez’s absence. He’s managed to ensure defensive solidity most of the time and he will no doubt play a big part from here on in until the end of the season, despite Gomez nearing a return.
But, Godfrey joining could force Jurgen Klopp into ditching the German-born defender as the Norwich City man, Van Dijk and Gomez will more than likely be ahead of him in the pecking order, so he could find himself in a similar position to Dejan Lovren in the summer transfer window.
