Liverpool will be gutted with yesterday’s result as they failed to get the better of Everton in the Merseyside derby, which has forced them to take a backseat in the title race.
The Reds haven’t been able to reach their full potential in recent times as they continue to disappoint at the pinnacle of the attack, having failed to score in their last two Premier League fixtures.
Indeed, the central defender has been extremely impressive in the current campaign, so bringing him to Anfield would be sure to excite fans but his potential arrival may not be so exciting for a couple of players.
With that being said, here are the potential consequences of signing Matthias Ginter in the summer…
JURGEN KLOPP SECURES PERFECT VIRGIL VAN DIJK PARTNER
Virgil Van Dijk has been one of the standout performers for Liverpool in the current campaign, as he continues to keep things tight at the heart of the defence.
However, he hasn’t exactly received too much support in defensive areas this season as he’s still yet to really find his perfect partner at the back, with Joel Matip not quite reaching his full potential and Dejan Lovren disappointing.
Matthias Ginter would be the perfect partner for the Dutchman as they’re both very similar players, with Ginter’s pace, aerial ability and strength making him a well-rounded defender. His positioning is another thing that would benefit him alongside Van Dijk and he’d fit right into Liverpool’s style with the ability to keep calm and pick a pass.
DEJAN LOVREN EXIT
Dejan Lovren has been a spectator for large parts of the current campaign as he just can’t seem to work his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans, with Joel Matip being preferred at this moment in time.
The Croatian has made a number of mistakes and hasn’t always been able to ensure defensive solidity, so it’s safe to say that a replacement is definitely required for the 29-year-old.
So, Ginter’s potential arrival would push him even further down the pecking order, which could force him into moving away or Liverpool may decide to sell him.
