Liverpool were nothing short of dominant in front of home support at Anfield yesterday as they managed to secure a 5-0 victory over Javi Garcia’s Watford side.
The Reds will now turn their attention towards the all-important Merseyside derby at the weekend, with three points helping them earn the bragging rights, as well as making sure they reclaim their place at the top.
It appears as if Jurgen Klopp has his sights set on a possible summer swoop, as according to Football Fan Cast, Liverpool are continuing to monitor West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini.
Manuel Lanzini may have only just returned from a long-term injury but he’s clearly still of interest to the Reds, so here are the potential consequences of signing the Argentinian…
KLOPP SECURES LONG-TERM TARGET
Interestingly, Manuel Lanzini has been a long-term target for Liverpool having been linked with a move to Anfield on a number of occasions, including July 2017 (as per the Standard), May 2018 (as per The Mirror).
Of course, the Argentina international may just be the man to replace Philippe Coutinho after his departure in January of last year, but Jurgen Klopp would be more pleased with the fact that he’s managed to secure the services of a long-term target who could take the Reds to the next level if he joins in the summer.
ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN UPSET
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still recovering from an injury that has kept him out for the entirety of this season, so he’ll be desperate to hit the ground running once he returns to full fitness.
Of course, it remains to be seen as to whether Chamberlain will return before the end of the season but the arrival of Lanzini would be sure to upset him either way, as the West Ham man operates in a very similar position to the 25-year-old as he drops deep to pick up the ball and starts attacks, so he could be forced to take a seat on the bench.
