Potential consequences of Liverpool signing Ruben Vinagre

Liverpool managed to overcome the challenge of FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League tie last night, which has now put them in an incredible position.

The Reds weren’t at their best last night but they still managed to grind out the result and can now focus on Sunday’s season-defining Premier League fixture with Chelsea at Anfield.

It appears as if Jurgen Klopp is already looking at strengthening in the summer, as according to O Jogo (via Sports Mole), Liverpool have scouted Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Vinagre.

The Portuguese defender has been impressive when called upon this season at Molineux, so here are the potential consequences of Liverpool signing him…

JURGEN KLOPP LANDS ALBERTO MORENO HEIR

Alberto Moreno has only managed to feature five times in all competitions for Liverpool this season as Andy Robertson and James Milner have kept him out of the side.

His contract is set to expire in the summer transfer window and Barcelona are reportedly (as per Sport, via talkSPORT) interested in signing him.

Therefore, Jurgen Klopp can land Moreno’s heir by securing the services of Ruben Vinagre as he would be the perfect back-up for Robertson, with his pace, skill and crossing ability making him very dangerous.

FUTURE TALENT

Ruben Vinagre is arguably one of the most promising left-backs in European football as he’s excelled against some of the best attackers since joining Wolves, and he only recently turned 20.

The defender has all the ingredients to become a future star of the game so it would make perfect sense for the Reds to bring him in this summer. And, he has experience in the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp knows exactly what to expect after seeing him in action when Liverpool played Wolves in the FA Cup.
