Arsenal fans can breathe a sigh of relief after watching their side overturn a two-goal deficit at the Emirates, which booked them a place in the next round of the Europa League.
The Gunners will be focused on cementing their place in the top four at this moment in time as they continue to hunt down a Champions League place.
However, it appears as if Unai Emery is already looking towards the summer transfer window, as according to The Sun, Burnley are set to cash in on Nick Pope and Arsenal could now pounce to sign the goalkeeper.
Indeed, the Englishman’s arrival could mean a number of different things, so here are the potential consequences of bringing him to the Emirates this summer…
UNAI EMERY SECURES PETR CECH REPLACEMENT
Petr Cech is set to retire at the end of the current campaign after joining Arsenal back in 2015.
The Czech Republic international was the Gunners’ first-choice shot-stopper up until he suffered an injury, which allowed Bernd Leno to make a name for himself in-between the sticks.
However, bringing Nick Pope to the Emirates would make sense for Emery as he would secure himself a replacement for Cech, as well as healthy competition for Leno.
EMILIANO MARTINEZ FINALLY LEAVES
Emiliano Martinez joined Arsenal back in 2012 but he just hasn’t been able to make any inroads in North London as he continues to spend time out on loan, with his current spell at Reading being his sixth in total.
He’s only made 14 appearances for the Gunners and doesn’t appear to be a part of their future plans, so Pope joining in the summer could mean that he finally leaves permanently after spending most of his time out on loan.
Arsenal fans, do you believe Pope is the right man for you?
