Potential consequences of Spurs signing Nicolo Zaniolo - Features

Tottenham Hotspur have definitely impressed in Harry Kane’s absence as they now find themselves in the Champions League semi-final, as well as firmly being in the race for a top four spot.

Of course, a number of fresh faces need to be drafted in during the summer transfer window with plenty of areas requiring improvement. And, it appears as if Mauricio Pochettino already has someone on his radar, as according to Daily Mail, Spurs are keen on signing AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo.

Zaniolo is exactly the kind of player Pochettino could do with having at the new White Hart Lane, so here are the potential consequences of Spurs signing him this summer…

The AS Roma attacking midfielder is one to watch for the future.

Nicolo Zaniolo has made a name for himself over in Italy in the current campaign having produced an impressive six goals and two assists. He’s only 19 years of age and he’s already shown that he can produce world-class performances on a consistent basis, so Spurs could bag themselves a future star this summer.

Christian Eriksen’s future is still up in the air with Manchester United now reportedly (as per London Evening Standard) plotting a summer move for the Denmark international.

Spurs’ recent result against West Ham United certainly won’t help the club’s cause in terms of trying to persuade him to stay and Zaniolo’s arrival could add to the doubt as he has the potential to make Eriksen work for his place.

Signing Zaniolo in the summer could open the door for Eriksen to leave as Spurs will inevitably make the Roma man a big part of their plans if they spend big to sign him and he operates in exactly the same position as the Spurs man.
